The CEFC was established in 1998 and has since helped thousands of people in the Wimmera and Southern Mallee. We began with a handful of volunteers working in rent-free premises from the Horsham Rural City Council. Today we are staffed by around 85 volunteers working from our own specially adapted premises.

The CEFC was set up to help people who find themselves in a difficult situation (often out of their own control) which leaves them short of funds to purchase the basic staples of survival. The CEFC is supplied mostly by donations. When donations of basic food items are low we use the funds donated to us by the community to purchase these items. Added to this are often specialty items donated by local businesses or people.
